The BEST Hostels in Cesky Krumlov (With review scores from verified guests on BOOKING.COM)

There are only a few hostels in Cesky Krumlov.  To save YOU time, we’ve read recent reviews from former guests and have written a short summary about each place.  All these comments are made from real guests who have NOT been paid to do so.

TMK’s advice:  Look here to find our personal opinion about each property, from a local’s perspective.  If we know good things about the property, we say so.  If there are bad things  …WE SAY SO…

Score 8.6 – Hostel Kominik

Up the Vltava river about 2km from the city centre, this hostel is quite far from everything except the river.

Guests could not say enough about the staff.  They LOVE them.  But the cheap furniture is reminiscent of a student’s accommodation, with simple metal chais and blankets covering the worn fabric on common area seating.  This was the source of many complaints.  There is shared access to a full kitchen.  If you’re looking to save money by making your own food, this is the place for you!

Average daily rate:  30 to 60 euros  triple room and ‘Family room’ for six

TMK’s advice:  If you’re not on a rafting trip, there’s no reason to stay here.  It’s too far away from the city to be useful to anyone wanting to see the sites.  You CAN walk to town, but it’s pretty far!

Score 8.5 – Hostel 99

Probably the most famous place to stay in town.  Long before Krumlov was on the tourist ‘map’, this hostel was open for business.  People may not remember the name of the town, but they remember the ’99’ located at the city gate.

Rated 8.5 for cleanliness, this hostel offers single, double, triple, quintuple, dorm rooms and even an apartment.  Most rooms will have a shared bathroom.  Guests love the location at the edge of the old town in Latran.  Easy access to everything.  There’s a great restaurant downstairs that caters to locals and tourists alike.  It’s THE place to be on a Friday or Saturday night in the summer.  Hostel guests have a private terrace exclusively for them.

Past guests found very little to complain about.

Average daily rate:  12 to 56 euros

TMK’s advice:  If you’re arriving by ‘Regiojet’ (aka Student Agency) bus, get off at the 1st stop called “Spicak”  (Shh-pits-ack)  it’s less than 100m from here to the hostel.  Their rating has recently dropped from 8.6, but we don’t know of any problems.  The recent bad weather may be enough to drop the score.

Score 7.9 – Travel Hostel (aka “The Traveller’s Hostel”)

The only hostel located in the city centre, customers rate the location 9.2.  It’s close to everywhere!

There are many different room sizes and types available, all in a dormitory style setting.  The common areas have nice furniture and there is even a pub on the street level entrance.

Cleanliness is only a 7.3, and many guests complain about the shared bath facilities.  No shower curtains mean that others WILL see you showering.  And the toilet is in the same room as the showers with no privacy.  But it is CHEAP.

Average daily rate:  10 to 14 euros    (breakfast is an additional 3,70)

TMK’s advice:  This hostel is well known for several things:  Being the cheapest place in Krumlov to sleep and partying.  Their pub is popular with expats.  Live music concerts keep the party going late into the night.  Several photos on Booking.com show people doing shots in the bar.  If you want to party, this is THE place.  If you value your sleep, perhaps this is not the place for you.
